American Girl Clothes - Pink Sparkle Pajama

This is another pair of simple pajamas that I made for McKenna.  The fabric is a pink flannel that has a bit of silver sparkle in it.  Super cute.

American Girl Doll Clothes

I just finished making this wrap skirt out of a wonderful red corduroy.  The shrug has a wonderful red and gold coordinating fabric.

New Patterns for American Girl Doll Clothes

New Patterns for my American Girl McKenna

I had seen these particular patterns a while ago, but did not purchase them at that time because when I saw them, I didn't have McKenna.  I couldn't remember exactly where they were other than on Etsy, so yesterday I went looking.

I found them and purchased quite a few of the patterns.  I have not made them yet, but I am sure that they will turn out fantastic.  I was excited and wanted to share.

This cute little coat is darling.  Wonder if there is a life size version available?

This romper is just the cutest.  I might just have to draft it up to my size for summer lounge wear.

Then there is this little skirt.  Simply adorable.

Flip Flop Applique

As an arctic 'blast' is headed my way, and will be settled in here within the next 24 hours, my mind turns to summer.  What is more appropriate in summer than flip flops?

I have created 3 different flip flop applique designs that are perfect to put on a T Shirt to bring a bit of that summer fun into the cold drab of winter.

Flip Flop Applique can be viewed here in larger detail.

Flip Flop Applique 2 can be viewed in larger detail.

Flip Flop Applique 3  can be viewed in larger detail.

These budget friendly designs are sure to bring a smile to your face, just like a warm day in the middle of winter.

McKenna's Designer Suit

McKenna could not go around in her pajamas all day, so I started to expand her wardrobe.

My McKenna is a girl on the go, with tons of things to accomplish.  She needs fun clothes and more refined clothes as well.

I made McKenna a designer suit.  The slacks are from a darker blue-gray micro-suede. The jacket is from some boucle scraps that I had.

If you would want this little suit for your doll, be sure to click on the link to go view.

American Girl Doll Clothes

Sometimes, I wonder if I am reverting to my childhood.  Other times, I am quite sure that I am.

I had heard about the 18 inch dolls, and had a few friends that had purchased them for children or grand children and enjoy sewing outfits for them.

Last year, some out of state relatives were in town to visit, and we hit the big mall where the American Girl store is located in town.  I was BLOWN away.

I had purchased a doll from one of the chain retailers, but could never 'get into' her.  The other members in the family called her 'creepy'.  I still think she is nice, but she didn't speak to me.

Then I entered the doors of the American Girl Store.  I fell in love instantly.  My oh my, which one did I want to select?  Did I really want to buy one?  I looked at all of the dolls in the store numerous times.   We left to continue our shopping and hit the Lego store.

I knew I wanted to try my hand at sewing the clothes, and possibly sell some at craft fairs and the like.

Finally, my husband insisted that if I was going to sew clothes for the American Girl doll, that I had to have one.  No substitutes.

Back to the mall we went, and a couple of hours passed before I made my selection.  I wanted a Kit doll.  The name had a special meaning to me, and I loved her short hair.

I looked at all of the boxed Kit dolls, to find the perfect one for me.  My husband insisted that we talk to one of the sales associates to see if we could find a face and hair but select the eye color we wanted.  The nice lady explained that the other dolls were as they were that you couldn't select different eyes than what were shown.  Back and forth looking at a few dolls.

Then something about a specific McKenna caught my eye.  I placed the perfect Kit back on the shelf, and selected my perfect McKenna.  I have been a very happy owner of a McKenna doll since that day.

McKenna needed some pajamas, so I created her some out of a breast cancer awareness flannel.

I made two pair of these jammies, and one is available to be purchased.

Quilt-R's Market

Tomorrow is the 4th Annual Quilt-R's Market - sort of like a garage sale for all things new or gently used of quilters.  In years past, there have been people there selling left over supplies from quilt shops that they had owned that closed due to the economy.

This will be my third year, I believe, at being a vendor at the quilt-r's market.  I normally sell some of the test stitch outs that I make of the designs that I digitize.

What is left over, I normally donate to the ladies quilting guild at the church where it is held.

This year, I really wasn't thinking about the Quilt-R's Market, and donated 2 huge garbage bags full of my stitch outs to the quilting guild.  While this is good for them, it doesn't give me much stock to have to try to sell at the market.  Donating does make me feel better.

Oh well... I will have what I have.

Project Runway

I am so very glad that Project Runway is on again.  I do find inspiration from the show.  Many many years ago, I had dreams of being a fashion designer.  Well... maybe nightmares... but still.

I wish I had the talent to even attempt to submit my works to be on the show.  Maybe I should spend some of my limited spare time in that direction.

Hey, you only go around this planet with one lifetime, so why not make the most of it and do what you want to do?  I'm one that realizes that you have to do what you have to do... but you have to also follow the dream as well.

Following the dream is what took me to starting Thread Treasures in the first place.

Stitch on...

A teaspoon of rain

Yippie!!! :)

We received a teaspoon of rain overnight. Cooler temps, by about 10 or so degrees for the next day before the oven returns again.

Christmas in July

Slacks are done

Yeah!  I finished the slacks.  :)

Not really a watermelon not really a stawberry, but somewhere inbetween.  Found THE perfect top today as well, so will have a new outfit to wear tomorrow.

I love being able to whip up something new in short order.

Dog Days of Summer

It isn't even the part of the Dog Days of Summer yet, but dang...this heat is sucking the life out of me and everything around me.  If I do have to venture outside during the day, I feel like I need a couple hour nap to recharge my batteries.

It is so dry as well.  The deer came up and ate a bunch of the landscaping that I had done this spring.  My Zinnia's were just about to bloom, and the deer stripped everything to the stem.  I have tons of naked stems sticking up out of the ground.

Oh well... hopefully the weather will turn soon.

Walmart used to sell these micro fiber waffle weave hand towels that were perfect for embroidery.

It seems like they do not sell these towels anymore, and I am on the search to find a replacement as I loved to do embroidery on these.

Let me know if you know where to find them.
I'm actually getting a bit of time to sew for myself today.

Trying to get a pair of slacks made.   I have them cut out and the ends surged.  I wonder if I will be able to finish them today or not?

Also got a cute set of redwork frogs test stitched.  They are adorable.
Expanding the business.

In the month of June, I started to sell the designs from Golden Gryphon Gallery at Thread Treasures after the digitizer had left Oregon Patch Works.

In July, the entire designs offerings, along with the first couple of new sets, are available at ThreadTreasures.com.

I would like to welcome Golden Gryphon Gallery and hope that our relationship continues to grow over the years.

Deb also used the Cupid dollar design that I have.

Way to go Deb!

Thread Treasures - Sunflower

I am thinking about spring, and wanting to plant my garden.  I am dreaming of what I will plant and trying to determine the layout this year.

I digitized this little sunflower as I was thinking about spring and eating sunflower seeds.  I hope that you enjoy this little design.

Thread Treasures - Snowstorm for Connie

Living where I have for the past 16 years has gotten me past being a giddy child when the mention of snow is mentioned.  I now dread clearing the walkways and driveway.  While the first moments of a fresh snow are beautiful to behold, the black frozen mess that always is around the corner due to cars driving makes me shudder.

My sister, Connie, still lives in the south, so snow is not the norm during the winter.  As another snow was falling, I was digitizing snowflakes.  I called my sister on the phone to let her have all the excitement of the next 7 inches that I was about to receive.  I could tell in her voice that she was so very excited and I could imagine her out in my front yard doing snow angels.

When it came time to name my set, I thought I would name it for my sister.  I present to you "Snowstorm for Connie" and hope that you like it as much as I and my sister do.
